A farewell is necessary before we can meet again, and meeting again, after moments or a lifetime is certain for those who are friends. (Richard Bach)

there and back again

sola, it's been a week and i still haven't told you!! shame on me. well, probably you know already...

exactly one week ago... friday 19th... more precisely: at 7:48pm... arrival of the train IR90 at bruxelles-central. florian steps into puke.

monday 22nd, 1:13pm. departure.

the days in between: ... as for lack of better words i'll just call them unforgettably awesome.

my reasons for going to leave krummenau and go to brussels? that's obvious, isn't it!?! to eat mango of course! and the second reason was to see a crazy friend.

i didn't really see much of brussels. some houses, some streets, some trees, some people, a mall, and... and the grand place. have you ever been at the grand place around christmas time? at night? it was great! the old buildings, the christmas tree, the lights, the music... beautiful... amazing atmosphere.

and then there was the food! i told you about the mangos already. but sam (that's the friend btw. the one that welcomed me in her room. an awesome person! weird, yes. she is weird. and crazy too. i think i mentioned that before. but awesome. do you know what it feels like to have a true friend? then you know what i mean.) ...lol, i think i gotta start that sentence again. :D sam didn't only have mangos ready for my arrival, but also ice-cream (hmmm!) and chocolate (hmmmmm!!!!). she even prepared hot chocolate for me (hmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!). oh, and then there were spaghetti. with sauce bolognese à la Samia Mongâteau. once without sauce. because it was too late/early (3am if you wanna know) ;D  crazy, like i told you.

let me sum up those hours: unforgettably awesome.

...we'll meet again... i'm saying that to all of you. we'll meet again.

happy new year 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

about ACDC (ArchiteCture anD Cellphones)

today i was reading a book about architecture (ps, guess why) for the first time in my life. ...architecture... why should i read about architecture? the only thing i care about is a head above my head, maybe a window or two, a door would be nice too. why should it be interesting to read a book about it? well, now i know. because you can learn something about psychology, philosophy and history (for example about hitler and mussolini). that's just 3 topics that i discovered. and i have to add that i've read only for 2 hours during class. so... here's my tip for you: never say (or even think) that something is boring if you don't know it. isn't always as easy as it might sound.

another thing i learned today: having no cellphone connects people. the story is the following. i went to the library today (guess why) and there was a woman behind the desk who explained me how i could get the books i wanted. she seemed a little tired and crabby but when i had to tell her my cellphone number and i couldn't (because i don't have one), she kinda "woke up". she didn't have one herself, but she couldn't believe  that there are (young) people in zurich who don't have a cellphone! since that second she was vivid and joky (dunno if that exists) and i think i'm her favourite student now... one more reason for me not to buy a cellphone. :D

Of the yearning of the caterpillar
To spread its wings as a butterfly,
Of the yearning of the bird in the cage
To jump from one limb to another in the jungle,
Of the yearning of the ice
To dance on the waves,
Of the yearning of the extinct stars
To be able to shine one more time,
Of the yearning of the blind
To be able to see,
Of the yearning of the haunted
To find peace,
Of yearning,
Only of yearning
Is made our world.

Fall - all Leaves fall off all Trees

heya, i'm sorry for stealing your precious time, i'm sure you could do better things than reading this blog the whole time. but i've no choice, somebody (the early person :D) is forcing me to write something. but i really don't know what to write. i'm still studying at the eth and i like it. i'm still wondering why the moon doesn't crash onto the earth, i still don't know why the electrons in an atom aren't drawn towards the the center, i'm still asking myself what would have happened if some chromosomes had changed places 20 years 9 months 3 days ago, ...

but there are other things that i do understand now! por ejemplo, i know now why i always feel drawn towards my bed. it's because of what newton found out: "two objects gravitate towards one another!"

except for university, there isn't much going on. my birthday was a quiet one. i'm gonna celebrate this weekend with my family.

exactly one week ago, i met an old friend of mine from highschool. before i left to canada, he had to do military service and now he's studying in the french part of switzerlandia. that's why i hadn't seen him for around 1year and a half. so you can imagine how awesome it was to meet him again!! we wanted to go to a bar, but (shame shame) we didn't find one! you know that i'm not the kind of bar-or-nightclub-goer, so i didn't know where to go and he neither. so we just wandered around and talked about god and the world... (btw, after 2hours or so we actually found a nice bar!!)

but it's getting colder.

outside and inside.

i miss you. the late ones, the early ones, and the ones in between. i miss you.

What is over
Isn’t over
It continues growing
In your cells
A tree made of tears
Or
Departed felicity.
